The SIX Viewer enables users to display and question a wide range of spatial (location based) information including aerial photography, satellite imagery, property, and geographic information.

Different secure channels (or Views) have been created to support specific Government and business users for example NSW Fire brigades and Surveyors. These channels are secure and require a login to access. Use the link below, to find out more information on the current and future channels within the SIX Viewer.
Quick links
Users can quickly access areas of interest by using the below “quick links”. Simply click on the appropriate link, enter the searches details, and then the SIX Viewer will open and automatically zoom into your area of interest:
- My Place – enter an address to search on and display
- My Suburb – enter a suburb name or post code
- My State focuses on state wide information and includes live feeds of weather and bush Fire information supplied by the Bureau of Meteorology and Geoscience Australia. (Tip use the down arrow on the channel bar to switch between channels)
About SIX Viewer
The Spatial Information eXchange (SIX) Viewer is a cross government shared service for use by government, business and the community.
The key aims of the site include:
- Improve access to Spatial (location based) across the whole of NSW
- Deliver more key services electronically
- Leverage and share existing Government infrastructure and services to maximise the return on investment

Public access to the SIX Viewer provides:
- Direct, easy and FREE access to a wealth of spatial data for the whole of NSW.
- Ability to display and view multiple layers of imagery and themes within a single browser window.
- The ability to “mash up” or combine data from other web sites, for example the live weather feed from the Bureau of Meteorology.
What's new
The following functions will be available by April 2008:
- New tool to enable users to add information to the map window and share the URL with colleagues and friends, for example highlight an area of interest, assign a symbol and add a short description.
- Measure tool to allow users to measure distances.
- A simplified version of the site called “SIX Lite” that does not require a plug-in.
Important information for new users
- Broadband access of at least 512KB (1 Mbp preferable) is recommended to ensure that the imagery displays quickly within your browser.
- To access SIX Viewer for the first time, you need to install a one-off plug in.
- Supported browsers - Internet Explorer version 5.5+, Internet Explorer 7, Netscape 7.x, Firefox 1.0+ browsers.
- Supported operating systems – Windows XP and Windows 2000. Windows Vista is not yet officially supported and some users may experience issues installing the plug-in.
- Macintosh users – Macintosh/safari support will be provided by April 2008 as part of the development of the simplified version of the site.
